October

Café patios bustling with people
Drinking coffee and chatting lazily
Sunlight sparkling through the green canopy above

Are you surprised by my October poem?

I am.

Note Poem:
Travelling Mum

Bank Street Mum
Market Mum
Downtown Mum
Art Centre Mum

Note Poems were part of the Writing Activity for Week 2 - click here.
Here is an explanation of my note poem:
Sometimes when we came home from school,
my Mum would be out.
She would leave us a note to tell us where she was.
My mother always wrote very short notes.
Usually they were just 2 lines.

Something like:

Bank Street.
Mum.

So many Mums?

But a Mum who always comes home to become

Kitchen Mum
Garden Mum
Front Porch Mum
Laundry Room Mum

and Bedroom Mum tucking us in before sleep.

We read the poem called This is just to say by William Carlos Williams that was based on a note to his wife.

What do you think she would say back?
Would she forgive him?

This is just to say
by Mrs. Williams

You have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

which I WAS
saving
for breakfast

I forgive you
I ate the banana instead.

Or ...

This is just to say
by Mrs. Williams

You have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

which I WAS
saving
for breakfast

I do not forgive you
I am at my mother's
you are so cold.
